- TitleReport of Sergeant George Daniels stationed at Shefford who was on duty in the Campton Roads, Shefford when he saw 2 men the worse for drink and shouting. One of them he recognised as the deserter James Godfrey, Private in the Royal Marines from her Majesty's Ship Salamis. Godfrey said he'd made a mistake but Sergeant Daniels took him to his house and read the description of the deserter to him. Godfrey said 'You have copped me right enough, but I wont soldier another day and you may tell them so'. Remanded until the next day.
