    Folio 111 - William Wheler of Wotton, made 12 Sep. pr. 16 Sep. 1557 Soul to almighty God, our blessed lady and all the holy company in heaven, and burial in churchyard of Wotton. To wife Joane and to son Thomas Wheler the farm where testator lives, which he holds of the Queen’s grace, as appears in his indenture, and after Joane’s death then Thomas to have it. To wife Joane a white horse and the best colt and 6 of the best milch beasts and a bull, and one of the best oxen and the second shod cart. All testator’s lands and tenements in the parishes of Wotton and Ampthill to John Wheler and the heirs of his body. To his son Thomas Wheler and the heirs of his body all lands and tenements and pastures in the parish of Maulden . However, wife Joane to have all lands, tenements and pastures in parishes of Wotton, Ampthill and Malden for her natural life, after which his sons John and Thomas to enter into their estates. Should son Thomas Wheler die before he has had any issue, then his share to be divided between the male children of testator’s eldest son John Wheler. To son John Wheler a horse “colour sorrell balde”, a milch cow and the third shod cart, the best muck cart, 20 sheep, 3 acres of pease 3 half acres of barley, one acre of wheat, 6 quarter of barley, 2 steers and a colt. To John Wheler’s three children 6 sheep and one sheep to the child that is unborn. To the children of John Wheler 2 pair of sheets. To John Barbor 20 sheep, 3 acres of pease, 3 half acres of barley, an acre of wheat, 6 quarters of barley and a colt, and 22s. in money, a pair of wheels, and 2 steers which testator bought at Sanct Edes. To Jane Barber 2 sheep. To Joane Barbar 2 pair of sheets, a milch cow and a bullock. To son Thomas Wheler the best shod cart and second muck cart, 4 horses and a colt, 4 milch beasts and 16 sheep and an ox. To Awdrey [?]Lerewild a pair of sheets, 2 one year old bullocks and 6 sheep. To William Pepiatt 2 one year old bullocks, and 6 sheep. To Richard Pepiatt a ewe and a lamb. To sir John Dewe 3s. 4d.. and 18s. to pray for testator and his wife Joan. Residue to wife Joane and to son Thomas Wheler equally between them. Sons John and Thomas Wheler to be executors and sir John Dewe vicar of Wotton to be supervisor. Witnesses William Burrell, John Collier, John Medleton.
