    Copy letter from Andrew Underwood stating that the tombstone in Ampthill churchyard over her parents' grave did not have enough space for all that should be said about Doris Mann, his suggestion being: ". . . and their daughter DORIS MAY MANN 12 August 1903 30 December 1897. In a lifetime of service to the community she became a County Alderman, Chairman of Ampthill Urban District Council, Town Mayor of Ampthill, President of the Ampthill Branch of the Women's Voluntary Service and of the South Bedfordshire Association for the Welfare of the Blind. She was an Honorary Governor of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Chairman of its Ampthill branch, and ultimately responsible for the provision of a new lifeboat at Wells, Norfolk, the RNLB DORIS M.MANN OF AMPTHILL".
