Lease Parties: (i) Mary Steward of Wood End, Cople, widow; David Ashwell of Cardington, yeoman; (ii) Thomas Goss of Cardington, yeoman Reciting: - lease of 30 Jan 1707 [1708] of (a) from Mary Steward to David Ashwell for six years; - David Ashwell wished to surrender remainder of lease to (ii) Operative Part: - David Ashwell surrendered (a) to Mary Steward for 5/-; - Mary Steward leased (a) to (ii) for 6 years at 19/15/- per annum rent, paying an additional 5 for every acre of meadow ploughed up for tillage Property: (a) messuage or farmhouse in Cardington; (b) close of pasture of two acres adjoining (a); (c) sixteen acres of arable dispersed in common fields of Cardington; (d) one acre of meadow in Cardington Meadows Provisions: - reserving all timber to Mary Steward; - permission to (ii) to plash hedges and lop, but not top, one third of the pollarded trees each year Endorsement: " Thos Goss is to have on Loude of brickes ye first yeare and an Load ye foath yeare there .. twenty load of dung as Goss is to leave wn he goe off" Witnesses: - Richard Thorowgood; - William Spencer - Thomas Goss signed by mark
